BAVARIAN APPLE STRUDEL 
About 4 apples, peeled & sliced
1 tbsp. cooking oil
1 egg, beaten
1/3 c. lukewarm water
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flour, sifted

Combine oil, egg, water and salt. Gradually add flour, beating with spoon until a firm dough pulls away from side of your bowl. Knead dough on floured surface until smooth (about 5 minutes). Cover, let rest 30 minutes. Divide dough in half. Roll each into (18 x 12 inches), stretching if necessary to make very thin. Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with dry bread crumbs then with your apple mixture lengthwise in the center third of dough. Fold dough over apples and one side and then the other. Brush tops with melted butter. Bake at 400 degrees 30 minutes or until golden brown. (This flaky strudel is delicious made with cherry pie filling. Makes 2 strips.
