MOLASSES COOKIES (Dropped) 
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
1 egg
1 c. hot water
2/3 c. raisins
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
3 1/2 c. flour

Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg and molasses. Cream well. Add 1 cup hot water. Sift flour, soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon and ginger. Add to creamed mixture. Stir in raisins. Refrigerate overnight. Drop by teaspoon. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake 360, 13-14 minutes.
