CARAMEL ICE BOX COOKIES 
1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar (pack lightly)
2 eggs, well beaten
4 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients; then nuts. Form into rolls; wrap in waxed paper. Chill several hours or overnight in refrigerator. Slice and bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, or until slightly browned.
