SWEET AND SOUR SPARERIBS | |
1 1/2 lbs. spareribs 1/2 tsp. salt 1 egg 1 tbsp. water 1/4 c. chopped sweet relish mixture 1/2 c. all purpose flour 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/2 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. barbecue sauce 1/2 c. water Wipe meat with a damp cloth and cut into 8 pieces, serving style. Roll spareribs in flour seasoned with salt and pepper. Break egg onto flat plate. Add water and beat slightly. Dip spareribs in egg then roll in flour again. Melt shortening in large skillet on stove. Add spareribs and cook over medium heat. Brown on both sides. Pour all fat from skillet. Combine mixture of barbecue sauce and water. Turn stove to low and add sauce to skillet. Cover and cook 40 to 45 minutes or until meat is tender, turning meat over during cooking. |
