SWEET ROLLS | |
2 pkgs. yeast 2 c. lukewarm water 1/2 c. sugar 2 tsp. salt 2/3 c. dry milk 2 eggs 1/2 c. shortening 7 - 7 1/2 c. flour Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water in large bowl; mix is sugar, salt, eggs, shortening, milk and then 3 cups flour. With hands, mix remaining flour; turn out on floured board. Knead well. Place dough in greased bowl and place in warm place to rise. Cover bowl. Punch down after first rising and let rise until dough doubles again. After second rising, shape dough into variety of sweet rolls. It will make 4 dozen plain rolls; 4 dozen doughnuts; 1 large pan roll; 1 coffee cake or 2 dozen pan rolls. Out favorite recipe is 1/4 dough from above recipe, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/3 cup melted butter, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup pecans. |
