EASY FRENCH ONION SOUP 
1 pkg. au jus mix
1 pkg. Lipton onion soup mix
1/4 lb. butter (less 2 tbsp.)
3 lg. onions
8-10 c. water
French bread
Mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese

Slice onions thin and saute in butter for 10-15 minutes. Add water and both packages of the seasonings. Simmer 15-30 minutes. Make ahead of time and then let it sit for full juices to develop.

When ready to serve: Reheat, ladle into bowls, add slice of French bread and top with shredded Mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese. Place under broiler for a few minutes to toast the cheese.
