POUND CAKE 
3 c. flour, do not sift
3 c. sugar
3 level tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. shortening (3/4 c. butter, 3/4 c. Spry or Crisco - do not use all butter)
6 unbeaten eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond

Note: shortening, eggs and milk should be at room temperature. Cream sugar into shortening, then add other ingredients. Mix all together for 5 1/2 minutes at high speed. Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes in greased and floured tube pan. This makes an excellent large cake which does not require a frosting, unless desired.
