DROP SUGAR COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Cream together butter, shortening, sugar, and vanilla. Add egg and cream until mixture is fluffy. Add dry ingredients until mixture is smooth; blend in milk.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet; flatten with bottom of water glass which has been dipped in sugar. Bake in 400 degree oven about 12 minutes. Yields about 5 1/2 dozen 2 inch cookies.
