BRIDE'S WHITE CAKE 
3/4 c. butter (butter or Crisco)
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 c. sweet milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tsp. baking powder
6 egg whites

Cream together butter and sugar. Add milk, then flour sifted with baking powder. Then add flavoring and last of all the whites of eggs beaten very stiff. Bake in a moderate oven at 350 degrees and cover with white icing.

WHITE ICING:

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. or less of white Karo syrup

Boil until forms a soft ball or spins a thread. Pour over beaten egg whites. Flavor with vanilla.
