FRIED SUGAR 
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. powdered sugar
1 1/2 c. lard
3 sticks butter

Heat lard in skillet. Melt butter, mix in granulated sugar and form balls, about 1 inch thick. Drop sugar balls into hot lard. Remove when golden brown. Serve hot on styrofoam plates, sprinkled generously with powdered sugar. This is a favorite of kids and grandparents alike. Even people who say they don't like lard like this dish.
