1 c. sugar 3 eggs 6 tbsp. melted shortening 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp. mace 3/4 c. sour or buttermilk 1 c. mashed potatoes (do not pack solid) 3 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda in milk Mix together all ingredients and roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut with donut cutter. Let stand 1/2 hour before frying. These stay moist a long time. Good for freezing. |
