HAM CASSEROLE 
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
2 c. milk
1 c. grated American cheese
1/4 c. slivered almonds (optional)
3 med. potatoes, cooked and sliced
1 can string beans or 1 lb. green beans, cooked
3 c. diced cooked ham
Bread crumbs

Combine melted butter, flour; gradually add milk. Cook and stir until thickened. Add cheese and cook slowly until melted. (Add almonds, if desired.)

Arrange potatoes in 2 1/2-quart casserole; cover with green beans. Add ham and sauce. Melt butter; add to bread crumbs and sprinkle over casserole. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Serves 4-6.
