GRANDMA JOHNSON'S PICKLED BEETS 
Wash and cook beets until done. Peel

SYRUP:

2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. vinegar
2 c. water
1 tbsp. whole cloves

Put beets in large pan and cover with syrup. Boil 10 minutes. Put in sterile jars, seal. Makes 9 quarts.

NOTE: 1/2 bushel of beets takes 3 recipes of syrup.
