CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER BARS 
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 egg
2 tbsp. water
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Chocolate Glaze (below)
1/2 c. chopped salted peanuts

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix sugars, shortening, peanut butter and egg. Stir in water, flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips. Spread in greased baking pan, 13 x 9 x 2 inches. Bake about 20 minutes. Spread with Chocolate Glaze while warm; sprinkle with peanuts. Cut into bars, 1 1/2 x 1 inch. About 6 dozen.

CHOCOLATE GLAZE:

2 sq. (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
3 tbsp. butter
1 c. powdered sugar
3/4 tsp. vanilla
About 2 tbsp. hot water

Heat chocolate and butter over low heat until melted; remove from heat. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat in water, 1 teaspoon at a time until smooth and of desired consistency.
