MARILYN BUHL'S HUNGARIAN COOKIE
BARS

5 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1/2 lb. butter
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
4 egg yolks, beaten
1/2 pt. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. walnuts, ground
1/2 c. sugar
Apricot jam (or other jam to your liking)

Mix first 5 ingredients. Cut in butter. Add vegetable oil, egg yolks, sour cream and vanilla. Mix well.

Divide dough into 3 parts. Roll first piece to thickness of pie crust. Place in ungreased cookie sheet (let dough come up 1/3 around sides).

Combine nuts and remaining 1/2 cup sugar and spread all but a handful over first layer of dough. Roll out second piece, place over nuts, then spread with jam.

Roll out third piece of dough, cut in strips and criss-cross on top of jam and nuts.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until dough is browned. Cut after cooling.
