RED VELVET CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 lg. bottle red food color
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. cocoa
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream together sugar, Crisco and eggs. Add buttermilk, coloring, cocoa, flour, vanilla and salt. Beat all together. Add soda and vinegar and beat again. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

ICING:

1 c. milk
1/4 c. flour
1 stick butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar

Combine milk and flour, cook until thick. Cool mixture and beat in Crisco, vanilla and sugar.
