DILL CASSEROLE BREAD FROM
GRANDMA ALICE

2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. instant minced onion
1 tbsp. dill seed
1 tsp. caraway seed
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. oil
1 unbeaten egg
1 c. cream style cottage cheese, room temp.
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water
2 3/4 c. flour
Optional: For milder taste, decrease onion & dill to 2 tsp. each

Soften the yeast in warm water. Combine in a large bowl with all other ingredients except the flour. Then add flour and mix to form a stiff dough. Cover with damp cloth and let raise in warm place until double and light (about 1 1/2 hours). Punch down dough and shape into 2 loaves. Place in well greased bread pans or a round 2 quart casserole. Raise again about 45 to 50 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes for loaves or up to 40 minutes for casserole. Cool 5 minutes and brush with butter. Freezes well.
