DATE AND NUT YULE LOG 
1 c. chopped dates
3/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. chopped walnuts
Cream Cheese Filling

In saucepan combine dates, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 cup water and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil. Cook over low heat 4 minutes. Cool. Beat eggs at high speed 5 minutes. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar. Stir dry ingredients together. Fold into egg mixture. Stir in date mixture.

Spread in greased and floured 10 x 15 inch jelly roll pan. Sprinkle walnuts on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Loosen edges, turn onto towel sprinkled with confectioners' sugar. Roll up (short side) and cool. When cool unroll and fill, reroll and slice.

CREAM CHEESE FILLING:

2 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
4 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. confectioners' sugar

Beat together 2 (3 ounce) packages cream cheese, 4 tablespoons butter and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Beat in 1 cup confectioners' sugar. Beat very well.
