HONEY WHOLE WHEAT BREAD 
1/2 c. warm water (110 degrees)
3 to 3 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 c. honey
1/2 c. shortening
2 pkgs. active dry yeast
3 to 3 1/2 c. white flour
1 tbsp. salt
2 1/4 c. warm water

Mix 1/2 cup water and yeast. Stir in salt and honey. Add shortening, 2 1/4 cups water and 1 3/4 cups wheat flour and 1 3/4 cups white flour. Beat well. Add enough of the remaining flour to make an easy to handle dough. Knead 10 minutes. Place in an oiled bowl. Cover and let rise 1 hour. Punch down.

Divide in half and shape into loaf. Place in a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Cover and let rise about 1 hour. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Remove from pans. Butter loaves (brush the tops with butter). Cool.
