SAUSAGE CAKE | |
1 lb. mild pork sausage, uncooked 2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 c. Milnot 2 1/2 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 c. chopped nuts 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. allspice 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. raisins Cream together sausage and sugar; beat in the eggs, one at a time. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately to sausage mixture with Milnot. Beat well, approximately 2 minutes. Fold in nuts and raisins (plump raisins by steaming or rinsing and heating in oven). Turn into a well greased 9 inch tube pan. Bake at 350 for 60-70 minutes or until done. This may be kept in the refrigerator for several days. It keeps very moist. This is good without icing, but if icing is preferred, a caramel one is deal. |
