1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. diced pear or apples
1/2 c. nuts

Mix in order given and put in a small sheet cake pan or small loaf pan. Bake 40 to 50 minutes at 350 degrees.
