CINNAMON ROLLS
1 c. milk, scalded
1 pkg. yeast
3 heaping tbsp. shortening
1/4 c. warm water
3 heaping tbsp. sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. flour

Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast softened in lukewarm water. Add egg. Gradually stir dough. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk. Turn out on floured surface. Turn dough just to coat so will not stick to rolling pin. Roll out to about 1/3" thick. Spread with melted butter and sprinkle generously with white or brown sugar and cinnamon. Add nuts or raisins as desired. Roll and cut in 1" slices. Place cut side down in greased baking pan or in greased muffin tins. Let rise. Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes. Frost with powdered sugar frosting.
