MINESTRONE RUSTICA 
2 carrots, chopped
1/2 sm. cabbage, shredded
2 sm. onions, chopped
2 turnips, chopped
1 c. shelled peas
1 c. string beans, cut up
1/2 lb. beef, cut in bite-size pieces
1 lb. Italian sausage, cut up
1 c. Parmesan cheese
8 c. boiling water
1 tsp. each salt & pepper

Combine everything but sausage and Parmesan cheese in large pot. Cover and cook over low heat for about 1 1/2 hours. Add sausages and cook another 1/2 hour. Serve with Parmesan cheese on top. Serves 4 to 6.
