APPLE PIE 
3 lbs. apples (approx.)
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3 tbsp. butter
Pie crust

Pare apples and slice. Mix sugar, flour, salt and spices. Sprinkle some in the pie crust. Heap apples in the pie crust and sprinkle with sugar mixture. Dot with butter. Adjust top crust, cut slits, brush with milk. Bake in hot oven (450 degrees) for 10 minutes, then in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 40 minutes or until apples are soft. If apples are not tart, add 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Sprinkle with sugar after removing from oven while pie is still hot.
