SALLIE KENNEDY PRUNE CAKE 
2 c. plain flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
5 eggs
1 c. salad oil
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. baby food prunes

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Grease pan. Sift dry ingredients together; sift in spices. Add eggs, oil, milk; beat well. Add vanilla, nuts, and prunes. Pour batter into a prepared 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 40 minutes or until done. Cool in pan 15 minutes. About 5 minutes before cake is done, pour topping over cake and return to oven for 5 more minutes.

TOPPING:

1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. white corn syrup
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix together and bring to a boil in saucepan. Boil 3 minutes and pour over cake as directed above.
