ANGEL BISCUITS 
1 pkg. dry yeast
2 tbsp. warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
5 c. self rising flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
2 c. buttermilk
Melted butter

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease one 13x9x2 and one 9x9x2 pans with melted butter. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside stir flour, sugar and baking soda together. Cut in shortening until mixture is the size of peas. Mix buttermilk with yeast water. Add to flour mixture. Stir with fork until moistened. Roll out dough 1/2 inch thick on floured surface. Cut with 2 inch cutter. Place in prepared pans. Cover with damp cloth and let rise 1 hour. Dough will not double in size. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until brown. Brush with melted butter. Serve hot. Makes 30 to 40.
