PEARL'S LOUISIANA PICKLED FIGS 
3 qts. ripe figs
6 c. sugar
1 c. vinegar
2 tbsp. broken cinnamon sticks
2 tbsp. whole cloves

Cover figs with 2 quarts boiling water. Let stand for 5 minutes and drain. Mix 1 cup water with vinegar and sugar in large saucepan. Add spices in bag. Bring to a boil and add figs. Boil 10 minutes. Let stand until next day.
