TANGY ORANGE DATE BARS 
1 c. chopped dates
1/4 c. concentrated orange juice
3/4 c. boiling water
1 stick butter
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 tbsp. salad oil
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped walnuts

Place dates, frozen orange juice and boiling water in a small saucepan and put on burner to keep warm. Do not boil, but stir often to soften dates. Beat butter, sugar, oil, eggs and salt mixture. Stir together flour and soda. Then add butter mixture to date mixture. Mix all together until flour is well absorbed. Add nuts and spread in 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

FROSTING:

2 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. frozen concentrated orange juice
1 tbsp. butter

To these ingredients, add enough hot water to make a thin glaze. Makes 48 bars.
