POPPY SEED DRESSING 
1 c. sugar or honey
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. vinegar
1 1/3 c. salad oil (vegetable oil)
1 tbsp. grated onion
1 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
2 tsp. poppy seeds

Combine sugar, salt and vinegar in a saucepan; heat over low heat until sugar dissolves. If using honey, skip preceding step. Pour dissolved sugar into a quart jar; add salad oil, onion, mustard and poppy seeds; shake to mix.

Refrigerate. Shake before serving. Makes about 2 1/2 cups. Spoon over salad or fresh fruits in season (summer peaches, plums, strawberries, melons; winter- grapefruit, oranges, apples or avocado).
