CREAMY BACON DRESSING 
5 slices bacon
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 beaten egg
1/4 c. vinegar
1 c. light cream or milk

Fry bacon slowly. Mix together the sugar, salt and cornstarch. Add eggs and vinegar. Add cream and mix well. Add slowly to bacon fat. Cook to desired thickness, stirring constantly. Serve immediately over lettuce, watercress or endive. Serves 6 to 8. (A family favorite; I do make ahead and reheat slowly.)
