SOPHISTICATED MEATBALLS 
1 lb. ground beef
1/3 c. dry bread crumbs
1/3 c. milk
1 egg
2 tbsp. chopped onion
1/2 tsp. salt
Pepper to taste
2 tbsp. oil
1 can mushroom soup
8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 c. water
Salad oil for browning

Combine beef, bread crumbs, milk, beaten egg, onions, salt and pepper and shape into balls (small for hors d'oeuvres, otherwise large ones). Brown balls in oil in a frying pan. Cover and cook 15 minutes. Remove balls, pour off drippings and stir in mushroom soup, cream cheese and water. May be served from chafing dish or if as a main dish, serve over noodles.
