GREAT-GRANDMOTHER'S HOLIDAY
PEANUT BUTTER ROLL
 
2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. white syrup
1/2 c. cold water
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
Peanut butter

Combine sugar, syrup and water and cook until firm ball forms when tested in cold water. Beat egg whites until stiff, pour half of syrup mixture over egg whites, beating continuously. Put rest of syrup mixture back on stove and cook until forms hard ball when tested in cold water. Pour over the egg mixture and beat until firm enough to roll out. Roll about 1/4 inch thick and spread with peanut butter, then roll up like a jelly roll. Slice and serve.
