BROWNSTONE FRONT CAKE | |
Cream thoroughly 1 cup butter and 2 cups sugar. Add 3 eggs (beaten) and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Fix and set aside to cool 1 cup boiling water, 2 tablespoons cocoa. When cooled, add 1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons vinegar, and 2 teaspoons soda. Add milk and chocolate mixture to sugar and egg mixture alternately with 3 cups flour (sifted) and 1 teaspoon salt. Pour in 3 greased and floured pans and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. FILLING: 1 stick butter 2 c. sugar (1 brown, 1 white) 1 sm. can cream or 2/3 c. milk Simmer for 1 hour. Beat well. If it doesn't thicken, add a little confectioners' sugar. |
