FROSTED APPLE BARS 
Crust:

2 1/2 cups flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk in 2/3 c. milk

Mix like pie crust. Roll out half mixture to fit a jelly roll pan.

Filling:

6 large apples, peeled and sliced
2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix and sprinkle over apples. Place apple filling mixture on first crust. Roll out second half of crust and place on top. Beat egg whites until frothy and brush over top of crust.

Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes until golden brown. While warm, top with following glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 3 Tsp. hot water and 1/2 tsp. vanilla.
