POOR MANS COOKIES | |
1 c. raisins 2 c. boiling water 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1 egg 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 2 c. flour Combine raisins and boiling water. Allow to stew for 10 minutes, then drain reserving 1 cup of the liquid. Cream shortening and sugar. Add reserved liquid, egg, spices and dry ingredients. Mix well. Stir in raisins by hand. Bake in a greased 9 x 13 or 11 x 17 inch pan at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, cool. Frost with powdered sugar frosting. Cut into bars. |
