4 c. French fried peanuts 2 c. toasted black walnuts or pecans or both 1 c. chopped dates 4 c. broken pretzels Prepare the peanuts by shelling raw peanuts. Boil for ten minutes in plain water. Drain, slip skins with fingers. Heat enough vegetable oil in pan to cover peanuts while frying. Pour in hot oil. Stir constantly until peanuts begin to turn a light brown. Remove from heat. Drain, sprinkle a little salt over peanuts, let cool. Add dates, toasted nuts and pretzels. Mix well. (Toast nuts inside the oven.) Fill pint jars with mixture. Decorate jar top with a "Christmas touch" and label the jar. Give as Christmas gifts. |
