MOM'S IRISH STEW 
1 lb. stew meat
1 tbsp. flour
3 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1 c. water
2 med. sized carrots, sliced
2 whole onions
2 med. potatoes, pared and cubed

Cut meat into bite sized pieces. Put meat and flour in paper bag and shake to coat meat. Brown meat in pot using butter. Add water, cover and cook over low heat 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until meat is nearly done, adding water as necessary to prevent sticking. Add vegetables and cook 15 more minutes. Pan liquid may be thickened with flour if gravy is preferred.
