BREAD & BUTTER PICKLES #1 
4 qts. zucchini, chunks or sm. slices
6 white onions, sliced
2 green peppers, chopped
3 red peppers, chopped
2 garlic cloves
1/2 c. pickling salt
Cracked ice

SYRUP:

5 c. sugar
3 c. cider vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
2 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed

Put everything but ice and syrup in crock. Put cracked ice over top. Let stand 3 hours. Drain, but do not wash. Bring syrup ingredients to boil; add pickle ingredients; cook about 20 minutes. Pack into sterilized jars and seal. Process in boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
