IRISH WHOLE WHEAT BREAD | |
3 1/2 c. warm water 3 tbsp. dry yeast or 3 pkg. 1/4 c. cider vinegar 1 c. dry milk 1/2 c. honey 1/2 c. vegetable oil 3 eggs 1/4 c. molasses 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 1/4 c. rolled oats 4 1/2 c. whole wheat flour 4 1/2 c. all purpose flour In large mixing bowl dissolve yeast in water. Stir in the remaining ingredients up to flour mixing well. Stir in flour 1 cup at a time until a workable ball of dough is formed. Knead using flour as necessary for 10 to 15 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover and let rise double in size in a warm place. Punch down and divide into 3 pieces and let rise covered 10 minutes. Shape into loaves. Place in greased 9 x 5 inch pans and let rise again covered and in a warm place. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool on rack. Makes 3 loaves. |
