2 c. yellow corn meal
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 onion, finely chopped
2/3 c. milk
1 egg
hot bacon fat or oil, for frying

Mix corn meal, baking powder, salt and chopped onion, add milk and egg to form a stiff mixture. Heat a shallow frying pan containing bacon fat or oil. Mold the hush puppy mixture into rolls about the size of a regular hot dog and fry until well browned on all sides. Serve hot.
