PECAN PIE BARS 
1 c. shortening
2 c. flour
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 c. dark syrup
1 1/2 c. pecans

Mix shortening, brown sugar, flour and salt. Mix as pie crust and pat into 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Beat eggs gently, add sugar, vanilla, syrup, salt. Add pecans. Pour over crust and bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees, reduce heat to 275 degrees and bake until set (about 20 minutes) cool and cut.
