MRS. ZECHIEL'S STRAWBERRY
SHORTCAKE
 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. sugar
5 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 c. milk
2 qts. strawberries for topping
1 c. sugar for topping

Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Beat egg. Add milk to beaten egg. Add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients. Stir just until blended. Bake in greased 8 x 8 inch pan at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cut into squares. Split squares in half horizontally. Top with sweetened strawberries.
