KARIDOPETA (WALNUT CAKE) 
1 lb. butter
3 or 4 lbs. walnuts
1 dozen eggs, separated yolks and egg whites
1 c. Zwieback toast, crushed
1 tsp. baking powder
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix butter well with baking powder and baking soda for 15 minutes. Add sugar, Zwieback toast, nuts, and then add the egg yolks. Add egg whites, beaten well. Grease pan well with butter and sprinkle the pan with toast. Add above ingredients and bake at 350 degrees until cooked, about 1 hour. Add cooled syrup on the hot karidopeta.

SYRUP:

3 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 c. Karo syrup
2 tbsp. honey
1/2 lemon

Boil all ingredients for 12 minutes. Prepare syrup ahead of time and cool.
