CHERRY CAKE OR FRUIT CAKE 
1 lb. chopped dates
1 qt. chopped pecans
1/2 lb. chopped candied cherries
2 slices candied pineapple, chopped
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Sift together the dry ingredients sift over the chopped fruit and nuts and add the well beaten eggs. Mix together thoroughly. Pour into a well greased and floured tube pan and bake for 1 to 2 hours until a toothpick test comes clean. Bake at 350 degrees.

After cake is cooled wrap cake with a clean cloth soaked in wine and store in a closed container or wrapped in foil. Bake cake the beginning of December to be well seasoned by Christmas.
