4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
2/3 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs
1 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. plain M & M's

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Heat unsweetened chocolate and shortening in 3 quart saucepan over low heat until melted. Remove from heat, mix in sugar, vanilla, eggs. Then stir in remaining ingredients, except M & M's. Spread in pan. Sprinkle with M & M's, press lightly. Bake until brownies pull away from sides of pan, about 30 minutes. Cool completely. Cut into bars. About 32 brownies.
