4 cups (1 quart) cranberry juice cocktail
1/3 cup granulated sugar
juice of 1 lemon
3 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 tsp. brandy extract or 1/2 cup brandy

Combine all ingredients and bring to a boil; lower heat and simmer 5 minutes. Remove spices and serve hot in large mugs.

Suggested garnish: spiced apple rings.
