HUSHPUPPIES 
2 c. flour
1 egg
1 sm. onion, diced fine
4 tbsp. shortening
Deep fat fryer
1/2 tsp. each salt & pepper
1/2 c. water (approx.)

Cut flour and shortening together. Add egg and onion, salt and pepper and mix well. Add enough water to make a soft pliable dough. Shape into balls and place them into deep fat fryer. Remove when golden brown.
