CRUSTLESS APPLE PIE 
6 med. sized tart firm apples
1/3 - 1/2 c. white sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
3/8 c. (6 tbsp.) shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Peel apples and cut in eighths. Place in saucepan with white sugar, cinnamon and water. Cook until apples are partially done (about 10 minutes). Then place in deep 9 inch pie pan.

Cream shortening, add brown sugar gradually and cream well.
