PERFECT MEAT LOAF | |
6 slices bacon 1 c. fine bread crumbs 1 egg 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/2 c. milk 1 med. yellow onion, chopped 5 tbsp. Heinz ketchup 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef Place bacon slices in 8 x 5 casserole dish or pan. combine loaf ingredients and shape into loaf. Place loaf on top of bacon slices. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour uncovered. BASTING SAUCE: 4 tbsp. yellow vinegar 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 4 tbsp. Heinz ketchup 4 tbsp. brown sugar 1/4 c. chopped yellow onion Combine ingredients in saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, turn down heat to a simmer. Baste meatloaf four times while cooking, until sauce is gone. Serves 4-6. |
