BRAISED BEEF | |
1 lb. stew beef 1 tsp. salt 6 c. tomato juice 1/4 c. celery flakes 2 tsp. parsley flakes 1/2 tsp. sweet basil 1/2 c. flour 6 tbsp. butter 1/4 c. onion flakes 1/2 c. diced carrots 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/8 tsp. garlic powder Cut beef into 2" squares. Combine flour and salt in a paper bag. Add beef cubes and shake. Brown beef in melted butter in skillet. Transfer beef cubes to a covered 2 quart casserole. Add tomato juice, onion and celery flakes to drippings in skillet and bring to a boil. Pour sauce over browned beef, cover and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Add carrots, parsley flakes and spices. Remove cover and bake for another hour. Serve over noodles. |
